Curriculum Overview

KINDERGARTEN

The Kindergarten curriculum is based on age-specific learning outcomes. Children and teachers together reflect on the meaning of each activity and explore it thoroughly; in doing so, every child makes the experience authentic and the learning personal.

Teachers attempt to understand the social and cultural contexts to which children belong, which gives clues to their emotional, cognitive and social needs. This helps teachers create a truly unique multicultural learning environment.

NJV promotes an active partnership between the school and the parent community.

PRIMARY SCHOOL

The Primary School curriculum at NJV is fuelled by the natural curiosity that children exhibit at this age.

Children share ideas and experiences, and develop a sense of community and discipline through interactions with nature, people, objects and the environment. They explore and investigate, consolidate and connect what they learn, ponder over and question it, and then demonstrate their learning in multiple ways.

MIDDLE SCHOOL

The seeds of sound reasoning and the overall development of academic rigour are sown at the primary level.

At this next stage between childhood and teenage a greater ability for abstract thinking begins to emerge in children.

The focus on inquiry-based learning continues, as do parallel in-depth explorations of subjects – biology, physics and chemistry; algebra, geometry and arithmetic; history, civics, geography; language and literature appreciation; art and music; and sports; which often culminate into integrated projects.

SECONDARY SCHOOL

.At the onset of Secondary school, we attempt to harness our students’ natural strengths and bent of mind, and channel them through languages and subjects of their choice. By this time, the child’s mind, brimming with scientific curiosity, is catalyzed by a growing objectivity, creating a bond with nature, and sensitivity to the human environment.

Knowledge, and an activity-based approach to the sciences, makes the child think in more inventive ways. The humanities, fine arts, performing arts and a host of co-curricular activities including sports, prepare the child for a wholesome and liberal attitude to life and relationships.

The first foremost aim of this School is to impart to the younga sound , moral , intellectual and physical education.
